Hello everyone

I just received a salifert ammonia test kit that I ordered and it didn't come with the sheet that you compare the color to after adding the reagents. Am I missing something that I don't need one? Or does anyone have an extra one laying around that they would be willing to sell?

thanks in advance

Bump!

I use Salifert kits, but not for ammonia.

:)

you wont need that chart - we can make your cycle work without that chart just fine.

once you are cycled, you do not have to test for ammonia in any reef tank (just keep an eye on fish, missing fish means you find its carcass and take it out)

the reason we do not need the chart at all to cycle your tank is because the kit reads clear when there isn't any ammonia, and slightly darker when there is. a white sheet of paper will work just fine as a comparative backround.

you would arrange your system and input the calculated cycling ammonia per volume, and the bottle bac, and a pinch of flake feed (Dr Reef's handy trick)

take a reading on your salifert kit it wont be clear, it'll have some color

test again in a week after all that stews, if the color went down at all you are fully cycled as bottle bac works that fast. If it doesnt change, wait until it does.

=cycling with no comparative chart is easy. cycling is about approximations and TIME its not about exacting anything. in the above method we meet both the ammonia control demands and the time factor considering bottle bac used. guaranteed to work.

we do not need to know nitrate or nitrite in updated cycling science 2020
