Salifert calcium

So with elevated cal low alk and moderate magnesium what’s the easiest yet most gradual options available? I don’t have a option to run any additional equipment

Steady dosing of a two part calcium and alk supplement is a good way to go. :)

Leave calcium alone and let it fall on it's own until its in the range you want it. Dose alkalinity to get it up to the range you want, but dont exceed more than .8 to 1 dkh over 24 hours, magnesium can be dosed at any time up to the range you want it at. :)

Calcium at 480 ppm is perfectly fine, and dosing a two part based on alk demand would keep it approximately there.

It is also fine to let it decline, but I'm certain that there would be no detectable change in the tank between, say, 420 ppm calcium and 480 ppm calcium. :)

Would dosing Brightwell code b p be sufficient?

Probably. I'm not a huge fan of Brightwell's ability to understand and formulate products properly, but this one seems pretty simple. :D

Ok so you suggest just to go ahead and start dosing 2 part? Do you have a preference on which brand or method?

No strong preference on brand or DIY (like BRS). There are important differences, especially as to how they impact pH. Some raise it , some raise it a lot, and some do not raise it at all. There are also differences as they relate to minor elements in them (e.g., potassium).

You wouldn't go wrong with a high end brand like ESV B-ionic, but might get visually similar results with a DIY (like BRS) that is a lot cheaper.

Sorry for my ignorance but I can just dose part b if my alk is low correct? If my calcium is 480 I can ignore it?

You definitely can, but I personally would not bother to keep jiggering the dosing of the two parts differently. :)

Thank you for your help. I did a 10 percent water change yesterday I will test in a bit to update you guys. Montipora that was bleaching has full polyp extension and a minor tissue loss. Both torches look about the same. I still can’t identify any pest on the one large torch that has 6+ loss heads. My 30+ heads ok hammer looks great still.

I see why you mean that. 2 days after WC my alk is down to 5.9 from 6.5, calcium is 490 to 415 and mag is 1245 down from 1290. I’m new to chemistry but I’m starting to see how those 3 components interact wiTh each other. I have tested 3 days in a row like a crazy person. I got supplements coming.
Can I safely raise all three key components simultaneously gradually?
I know nothing good happens in a reef tank fast. Do I have a specific time frame I want to raise these to natural sea levels?
