Salifert New Calcium test kit

I have old and new test kit. Both give me same reading.. Directions seem easy enough.

How do you reach Habib? I'm also finding the new kit reads about 50ppm higher than it should be as compared to ICP and Hanna.

I’m getting the same issue issue with the new kit. I just tested with both kits:

Old kit: CA 465
New kit: CA somewhere above 500

I stopped my CA doser thinking CA was too, but now I’m confused which is right. Turning my doser back on. I’d rather have more than insufficient CA.

Ordering another test kit from a different brand. This Salifert issue most likely will cause some crashes.

What's the expiration date on these kits? The kits I have expire in 2023 and the directions seem to be the same as they've been in the past with the exception of 10 drops of Ca-2 as opposed to 8......IIRC.

I have been using the new version it works as good as the old one in my opinion. You do have to take the time to read the new instructions though. There is a difference in the amount of powdered used depending on how precise you want the test to be. It specifically says not to swirl until after you have added some of the CA-2 also. Its definitely different than before but not any more difficult to get consistent results.

I’ve yet to see one of these, just got a new kit the other day and it was same as usual. If I understand correctly instead of adding the 10 drops of ca-2 you add .6ml of reagent, swirl and then start drops until color change?

Those are the old new ones lol.
The new calcium test is a completely different set of instructions.
The old salifert ca was 8 drops then 10 then i think they omitted that step.

I followed the new instructions to the T 3 times and it still reports CA higher than the old kit. At this point, I do not know which kit is correct (old vs new). I just bought a API kit to confirm.

Just watch a video on the new, new one. Haven't ran across one yet.

Because the people you buy from are still supplying the original version until its expired.
Some ebay sellers sell the expired kits at a discount.
I think the kits have a 3-4 year shelf life when produced.

Ok so here are my recent results:

API kit: CA 540
New Salifert kit: CA 510

As a result, I’m going to assume that the new Salifert is accurate and my CA was indeed high. This is alarming since my old Salifert (which expires 7/2022) was reporting lower CA at 465 - and I’ve been dosing extra CA :-( Perhaps the old kit was / became defective idk.

I guess it’s always good practice to test with 2 different brands each time.

digging this up from the grave.... so did Salifert go back to it's original formulation or are we still on the "new Ca" test kit. Need to buy another kit soon.
