Do you guys use the medium reading or the low reading ? kind of confusing as i watched this video at 16:10 mins , there is a colour chart but it does not say about low reading . which one is correct ?

Color comparison:

a. Medium range: Place test vial on white part of color chart and compare colors looking from the top. Use diffuse daylight when comparing colors. If the color corresponds to a value lower than 10 mg/L nitrate, then it might be better to compare colors as shown for the low range.

b. range: If the medium range color comparison gave a reading lower than 10 mg/L, then you can use the low range procedure. This will increase accuracy. Compare the color for the low range procedure by looking through the side of the test vial. Hold the white part of the color chart firmly against the opposite side of the test vial. Use diffuse daylight when comparing colors. The color is amplified by approximately 10-fold so you have to divide the color chart values by 10.

I didn't watch the video but I do use Salifert N03. Simply put, if you can't see any color from looking top down you look from the side. Its what I have to do because my N03 is .5. It matches up with the "5" which works out to ".5"

Under 10ppm the instructions say you can look through the side of viral against the chart to give a low reading and divide by 10. So if it's 10 or under when looking down from the top, look through the side instead, if when looking through the side, the colour matches the 50ppm color, dividing by 10, it will equal 5ppm. This is only applicable when the reading is 10ppm or lower during the normal test procedure.
