Time to upgrade from these point of sale API test kits. Whose is the most accurate? Not really wanting to invest in Hannah checkers at the moment.

I was using Salifert and I am currently switching over to Red Sea. I run Red Sea Coral Pro and A & B so I figured I would get better testing results with the Red Sea. I also like the Red Sea for the reason less boxes, instruction are simple and on a card instead of many pieces of paper with the instruction in many different locations. I like a more accurate read on the tests also. That is my 2 cents:)

Good Thread too. I would also like to see the other inputs

I use both and the Hanna's. Eventually I end up with a value that I did not expected, typically it's user error, but there have been issues with reagents and reagents go bad. Either or for Salifert and Red Sea for me. A Hanna alk checker is actually an excellent deal for 50.00 bucks and worth every penny imo.

I've tried both. Prefer the Salifert for Calcium and Magnesium. Hanna Checker for Alk but I keep a Salifert Alk Kit on hand in case I get a bad Reagent from Hanna which has happened more than once. Hanna Checker for PO4 The ULR one is Preferable.

Prefer the Red Sea for Nitrate. Think they call it the Red Sea Pro. Easier to read for me compared to Salifert's Nitrate test.

I just responded to the "best salt" post and will say the same thing here.....it's whatever works for you. I personally like Red Sea Pro test kits for alk, calc and mag....but that's just me.

Salifert or Hannah for ALK...Red sea for Calcium, Mag and N03

Red sea is very hard for me to read on Alkalinity and Salifert has a better color change for my eyes to read

Lets keep it going. I first asked this very same question a few months ago. I guess there need a poll to be setup

what made each one of you decide on these brands? Ease of use? Accuracy? Cost?

Different brand but I use Elos for Mag and Calcium and API for Kh

Can we all agree that the Red sea magnesium test kit is a huge pain in the butt?

If that much time and effort is involved in the test, it better be accurate!
