Which test of these 2 are more accurate? I have been trying to follow the Red Sea reef care recipe for a mixed reef with an alk level of 11.5. I tested my water today with Red Sea and got a reading of 11.65 dkh and decided to double check using Salifert since I've just started using Red Sea test kits. With Salifert I got 12.1dkh. Which of these have proved to be more accurate?

personally I like salifert, when cross checking I felt like they were more accurate. there is a lot of variables with hobby grade test kits though.

hann<cough> :eek:err I'd say it's all on who you talk to I use red sea always pretty close

Thanks! That's a very surprising big difference to me! I just retested with Red Sea and got 11.35

I use Salifert; from what I've read, they are a top tier reef hobbyist test kit. I have found them to be very precise with the syringes, and their endpoints are easy to determine (which I also like). There was an old post that compared brands; my read of it was that Salifert and Elos are quite good. If I recall correctly, Red Sea's magnesium test was pretty far off.
