I have been trying to get a phosphate reading, I had the API kits but it was almost impossible to read the charts once you phosphate levels were at the lower end. I think the options were 0, 0.25 then 1 and the color difference on the results chart was extremely similar.

I went and got a Salifert kit which had 0, .03 then .025 which is better... however 0 and 0.3 are only ever so slightly different shade of white/blue on the results chart.

Here is my water over the color chart with good lighting.

When over the top of the chart, I can see the left, the color pad is slightly darker, when over the lower color pad, the difference behind is even stronger

How would you read my results?
Is there a kit out there that gives you an actual result?

I typically like salifert kits but it's really hard for me to tell the difference between those shades of blue also. Instead of constantly asking my wife to tell me what color it matches up with I bought the Hanna ulr checker and it's much easier now. It's more expensive upfront but the refill reagents are only $8
