Salifert Test Kit question

So my salifert Alk test kit has been giving me weird readings (I think I've been misusing them). Do you stop adding drops once the color starts to change? Or when it completely changes from blue to orange/red/pink?

I usually go till it completely changes color but do it one drop at a time once I get pretty close. You can also use the sample that comes in the test kit as it is a standard I believe 6.7 or something like that as it is on the bottle and when I test with that to practice I am usually real close to the alk amount on the bottle.

The most important thing is that you be consistent from test to test.

Personally I wait for the initial color to be completely gone and for the final color to be as pure as possible. Near the end, going slowly, one drip at a time, is crucial to get this just right.

For calcium, this should (to my eyes) be a crystal clear blue.

For alkalinity is should be very pink, almost bordering on a little orange.

Ok thanks for the advice. I have been stopping when the alk sample turns purplish.
