I have a Salifert Test Kit. It is for KH/Alkalinity. In one of the steps, you draw 1ml of tank water with the syringe. I watched a video where this guy apparently worked with a Salifert rep., that told him the water should measure up to .85ml, and if not, to draw again. Mine only reaches .8ml, and as many times as I do it, when I hit the 1ml mark, I only get to .8ml. The directions don't say anything about where the water mark should be, only the black stopper/plunger. I am worried that my test results may not be accurate if I am doing the tests wrong.
Here is the video:

I have that test. Mine is take 4 ml of tank water, add 4 drops of the indicator dye and mix for 10 sec. Then draw up 1 ml of titrant into the 1 ml syringe. As you draw up the titrant, there will be about a .2 ml air gap between the syringe plunger and the top of the titrant. That is OK. That is just the volume of the empty head of the syringe. When you pull the plunger to the 1 ml line, you will have 1 ml of liquid in the syringe. It is OK. Many of the test kits have you drawing 1 ml of one sort of titrant or another into a 1 ml syringe and they all work fine with the little air gap.

Use this color guide from Jim Welsh to know when you reach the endpoint. I printed it so I have a handy guide! Thanks @JimWelsh: :)

As long as the plunger is all the way in BEFORE pulling up reagent, it doesn't matter what level it is. Don't overthink it. This applies to the water syringe as well.
