We all know the magic number 1.025 or 1.026 is the number we should strive for - not sure what's happened to my readings, but it's at 1.027 versus 1.0265 that I typically have it at- I used 2 different calibrated measuring devices to confirm. I don't know what's caused the increase this week - ATO is working, etc.

I'm assuming that having it at 1.027 isn't going to cause any issues? I have a mix reef tank with a few clowns at the moment. How much salinity swing is allowable from the magic 1.025 or 1.026?

Correct it’s not going to cause any issues. 1.026 is the magic number and ocean salinity. But anywhere from around 1.024-1.028 is typically acceptable.
Thanks! I had no idea about the 1.028 - that value seems high, but I assume it's a number that we shouldn't run our tanks at, but serves as the maximum high that is tolerable.

Slow changes are ok. Creep the salinity back down to your desired range.

Are you dosing 2-part of some kind? Once the calcium is removed from the calcium chloride, and the carbonate is stripped from the sodium carbonate, you're left with....... sodium chloride :)

Correct. I don’t recommend keeping salinity high like that but it can be and even higher. Stability is the best but think about the ocean and the amount of swings it has.
