Hi everyone!
I’m traveling the holidays and had my apex alarm go off that my salinity dropped. But it is weird and I cannot go and just check on it to find out what is going on.
The ATO is off. It has been off for the last day. I never turned it on after the last water change before I left town.
The temperature in the house has also been consistent.
I’m also sure the tank still has water in it because I’m still getting a salinity reading and readings off the other probes?
Anyone have any idea what this could be? Hopefully just a bad probe?

Can only be a probe error, I can’t think of any other reason for a drop in salinity if your ATO is off, the salinity should be going up not down, maybe because it’s reading out side of its normal range it’s gone a little haywire.

Thanks. This is what I was thinking as well but it still is nice to have someone confirm and know I’m not missing something obvious.

I would have someone go there and check, your PH went down a little at the same time though not knowing the trends of your tank that could be normal. Maybe something is blocking the probes?

Looks like his ph went up a little not down, which would make sense with the higher alk.

yes, even at that point it’s still higher than the general trend.
I was only looking at the sudden salinity drop off trend.

I have no idea how ORP falls into this but it also started going up.

One issue here is what is the time scale on this? I don't have a Apex so I have no idea there.

So out of curiosity I started reading about ORP relationships and found this thread. Maybe your pump stopped, no clue how salinity would drop in relation though. Maybe condensation on something dripping back in? Though that idea seems very unlikely unless it was a lot of water.

Update:
I’m thinking it was just a probe error? All seems good now. Hopefully.

Is the graph showing enough data to be able to determine that it is in fact higher than the general trend? It's not showing the previous peak(s).

Have someone check your sump. Mine does that at times when there is no water movement due to me forgetting to top off my ATO. It could be the same situation.

I had the same information as the post I was reply to stating the opposite of what I believe was a more accurate read of the ph level.

Clearly I wasn’t commenting on the OP’s ph over any significant length of time.

Aren't the salinity probes super sensitive to interference? Could lights out have somehow caused some interference? Definitely looks like some issue with the probe given you can explain ORP and PH going up.
