Hey guys, I've just started cycling 600L aquarium (that's with sump). My bad, I haven't checked my salinity probe, and while adding salt - added to much, up to 54ppt.

So I have 2 questions:
1. can such a high salinity negatively impact on cycling (will it burn all the bacteria - I used prodibio biodigest)
2. did I calculate right, that I would need to change about 215L of water to get salinity to required 35ppt?

Watch this to help cycle your tank

Use this calculator to help dilute your salinity.

Looks like your gonna need to take out almost 326L. Double check my work though

Salinity needs to come down. Probably didn’t sterilize bacteria. Calculations looks about right. Some vendors suggest a bit lower salinity for faster growth.

hey 90guzmanj, yeah, thanks for the link. Yet, it calculates how much do you have to add to dilude it, and I'm changing the water, since I can't add more to the tank.

So had to make some additional calculations, but yeah, it confirmed my original calculations, thx!
