Well my refractometer calibration fluid 35ppt arrived today finally !!
Calibrated my refractor ... SG = 42- 43 ppt
So the first time I'd calibrated it at my lFS something went wrong !! Was told my water was 25 ppt .. added salt back up to 35 ppt , tank was not looking good , plus heat wave .. tank hit 28 degrees., managed too cool it and keep it cool (under27 degrees).. two days ago tested sg 40 ppt :mad::mad::mad: and was still waiting for calibration solution..back to lFS calibrated again that was yesterday 40 ptt .. by this time I was almost pulling my hair out .my anamone which had never moved in almost 6 months and was the size of a large dinner plate was all over my tank and about the size of a tennis ball, my clowns were not happy and would come stare me out or planning my murder not really sure which !
I didn't know what too trust , my refractometer ... the lFS .. I read Randy's thread making your own solution .. made it calibrated refractometer .. tested 43ppt .. I was now even further from home .. I'm almost ready to bang my head of walls and doors now ..
anyway today my calibration fluid came and yep when I tested it was 42-43 ppt ..
Spent all night making rodi and changing out 5 ltrs and adding 5 Ltrs rodi.. 5and half hrs later and total of 35 ltrs and it's now reading 38 ppt .. tanks already looking beter anamone has finally opened up .. could have sworn my clown even smiled at me
.. anyway it's time for bed .tomorrow I will do the same and get it back down too 35 ppt ,fix the holes in the doors and walls and comb my hair over too cover my new bald spots !!
Oh and I discovered my heater was not working properly .. life's a peach !!
