Salinity- is this accurate?

Just added saltwater to my tank, from my LFS. I’m very new to this and bought this fluval hydrometer. Don’t know if it’s accurate or not, just figured I’d start with this and upgrade later. I’m not sure if this is accurate though. Is this hydrometer not worth a lick? I followed directions and watched a video to help me along.

You cant really say if this is accurate or not cause you dont have anything to compare it to. These are sometimes very inaccurate because the arm does not freely move because of salt creep in the hinge and bubble.

I think its fine for now since it seems like you just started the tank and it is brand new. Once you get corals and more into the hobby I would recommend get a refractometer

What you should really do is but a cheap refractometer. These swing arm things are really terrible products. They get little bubbles on the arm and don't last long, that's If there accurate at all.

Your looking for 1.026 or 35ppt. 34 is acceptable though.
