Salinity issue

Hey guys, I recently did a tank upgrade and moved my old water to a fiber tank. My new 9 feet tank is finally set up, so I did a salinity check on my fiber tanks water. All good at 35 ppt. I start pumping the water in my tank which consist of just rocks and sand. While filling I test the water in my new tank and the reading came out at 26ppt. May I know what’s causing the drop in salinity? Any experience this before?

What are you using to check with. Did it loose calibration potentially between tank to tank

Unless the new tank was 1/4 full of fresh water before adding the old water, then one or both of the values is incorrect.
