I use to have my salinity level set to 1.021 - 1.023 for my tank, the softies use to like it. I've been trying to grow out sps but haven't much luck. Does that level of salinity is too low for sps? Should I raise it up to 1.026 and can it be swing between 1.023-1.026? Would that effect the growth or survival of the sps?

That’s way too low for sps. Slowly over time raise it to 1.026. Do it with waterchanges

What is the swing level that sps can be sustained but won't get effected (like bleach out)?

There should be no swings at all.

Tank SPS dont like change. Light , salinity, flow ect.... A salinity change will also cause a alk swing. Thats a 1- 2 combo

I didn't realize that salinity can cause alk swing....

Salt mix has all your elements. If you mix it to a lower salinity level, it will not not have the same amount of elements per gallon as if it was mixed to a higher salinity level.

Had you have any experience with different salt mix like Aquaforest and RC...

I used Reef Crystals for years in my previous tank.
Never used Aquaforest
Currently use Red Sea - blue bucket (reg ) and black bucket (pro) 50 /50 mix.
Did you have any questions about them?

Is there anything different between the two? Does your corals do better with Red Sea salt?

I happen to like the way the red sea salt mixes.
I had problems with RC.
There was always some left over stuff floating after mixing.
Maybe it was because I used a brute can and a power head.
Red Sea Coral Pro and RC are both very high in alk. Something to be careful about.

True, when I use IO and RC, there will always be some white grains left after each mix.
Thanks for the heads up!!!
