Salinity levels in a FOWLR Tank

What should be the ideal salinity levels in a FOWLR tank. 34-36 ppm? I read somewhere 30 ppm would do for the fishes if no corals are present. Is it true? What are the consequences of too low or too high salinity say 25 or 45 ppm?

45 ppt would stress many fish and might kill them eventually. I'd aim for 30-35 ppt.

I keep mine between 1.024-1.026. Everything in there seems to be happy... fish, shrimp and crabs.

If just a fish only, you have a lot more latitude. Randy's 30-35 ppt suggested range is good.

Parasites? I have literally no idea about those. Could you elaborate on them. And what inverts would you suggest and how many? Are they absolutely necessary?

Wonderful articles there. I wonder if an eBook or manual can be created by compiling all such useful and practical stuff. The guys at FishLore already have an eBook for years on marine fish.

1.009 for 30 days; however hypo resistant strains of ich have been proven to exist so it is not a foolproof method. More info: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/hyposalinity.247596/

Cleaner (and other) shrimp will eat dead scales and "surface parasites" (e.g. velvet, flukes) off of a fish, but not effectively enough to eliminate them all. With ich, the trophont burrows in under the epithelium (outer skin layer), which is out of reach for cleaner shrimp.
