I'm trying to determine my correct SG. I have a refractometer that says 1.026 when I calibrate it to zero with RODI. But if I use the calibration fluid and calibrate it to the 35 ppt fluid then my salinity reads 1.022. I also tried my old cheap plastic tester with the float in it and it reads 1.024. I ordered the good Milwaukee tester but it won't be here for 3 more days. Has anyone been through this that can help me figure out if I need to raise my SG?

I bought my refractormeter from BRS and it specifically said not to calibrate using RODI...My salinity is reading 1.026 with the refractometer calibrated with the solution, and my Hydrometer reads 1.024! I would use the calibration fluid and go with that.

It is best to calibrate using the solution at around 77 degrees for best results. RODI is not good for calibration.

Thanks so much! I will go with that.
