I want to raise my salinity to that of the Red Sea. What is the salinity?

After ostreopsis dinoflagellates killed nearly every sps i had, id like to raise the salinity in an attempt to kill them. Ive seen one post that he raised his salinity to 1.028+ and that they dissapeared. Currently my salinity is 35ppt. My fish are all good too.

I'm not sure why you want to target the Red Sea salinity if the goal is impacting dinos.

That aside, the salinity of the red sea varies from one end to the other, from about 36 ppt to 41 ppt. That range is from sg = 1.0272 to 1.0309.

Thanks Randy. Its only an experiment to see if it works. Why do you doubt it or have concerns?

My only question is what the salinity of the Red Sea has to do with it.

Oh sorry. I suspect they may not grow at that salinity, and since the Red Sea is the highest salinity in the world having the most diversity, im assuming it would help with dinos if high salinity does anything to them or some unseen factor.

Fwiw i did an experiment a while ago. I put dinos in a jar with an air bubbler for two weeks. However, water evaporated, and the dinos dissapeared. Im thinking maybe higher salinity caused this.

My tank is covered in dinos lol. Even some fish get strings on them.

Any suggestions to combat dinos?

I know its not chemistry related but heres a sump shot and microscope pics from tonite:
