Looking to buy a salinity probe. Does anyone make a salinity probe other than Neptune?

I know GHL has one as well, but you would need the profilux platform to use it.

It looks like Hannah and pinpoint both make standalone ones as well. I don't think you would be able to monitor those remotely though.

Ya, I'm looking for one to plug into my Apex brain. The Neptune one is very expensive.

I believe the apex salinity probe is the only one that will work with the apex system.
OK Thanks, while we're on the probe topic, can a Pinpoint PH probe work on the apex system and can I use Neptune calibration solution to calibrate the pinpoint?

Yes the pinpoint pH probe will work with the apex. You should be able to use any brand of calibration fluid to calibrate the probe. Just make sure your calibration values in the apex when you calibrate match the values of the solution you are using.

Waste of money. They are poor quality, inaccurate and don't last very long. I'm on my third Apex salinity probe (in 10 years) and I won't buy another. I have always told people you can use them for at a glance readings but don't ever use it to control anything. What's telling is Neptune no longer offers any bundles that include the salinity probe. My salinity right now is 35ppt and the recently calibrated probe is reading 38.2ppt. Save your money and just buy something else. I like the Hanna and have never had a problem with it (after calibration it actually matches hydrometer) and its quick and convenient.

And BTW all calibration solutions are not the same i.e. the Neptune solution cannot be used to calibrate a refractometer.
