Hello guys ,

so I mixed my saltwater to 35 ppt.
Now my tank is running since 3 days and yesterday the salinity was 33.7 and today it’s 34.9 again . Is this normal or is there any problem in the system that my salinity is not stable atm ?
Thank you

It could be test error or maybe temperature fluctuations which affect salinity readings. I assume you have an ATO system.

I got a digital salinity checker wich adapts the temperature :) yes I have a ato , maybe because if not a stable water stand it’s pumping to much ro water ?

Do you have a skimmer? could that account for it?

Also are you cleaning your refractometer between tests?

If I had to guess, it is just testing variances. My digital refractometer reads different readings all the time. Your number won't jump up and down like that unless you have a very small tank or you are dumping a ton of fresh water into the system.

IF YOU HAD TO TAKE A REEFING EXAM, WOULD YOU PASS?
