Salinity rising with ato in display tank

I have a smart micro ato on my 40 breeder. I don’t have a sump and have two wavemakers. I try to make it so I have good flow but at the same time I don’t have strong waves messing with the sensor. However, I guess because it is in the dt, the waves mess with it still and the water will have to drop way bellow it for it to register and top off. Should I just return it and try a different ato like a float sensor?

I am not sure, but if there is no area for water level to stay at a constant than any type of sensor will not work. If that is what you are asking. I think

Ya. Because it is the dt, there is not exactly a spot where the water is completely still with no up and down movement. Would it be better to go with a peristaltic pump ato?

What are you using to test salinity, and what are your high - low swings?

Refractometer from Bulkreefsupply. Low is about 35ppt and high is probably 37ppt. I have adjusted the pumps to have a little less wave action though so we shall see if that helps
