I had my ato fail on me and pumped alot of freshwater in my tank which dropped my salinity to 31ppt. What is the easiest and safest way to raise it back to 35ppt without killing my acropora and sps

I scoop tank water in a one quart Chinese food cup and add salt to the cup and cap it and shake it vigorously and slowly add to the sump until I reach salinity point

I'm a big fan of Gablami 's process and it's one that I advocate because it works well. Let evaporation raise your salinity- it will do it slowly and gradually. Other options have the chance of raising it too quickly if done incorrectly- they will all work (if done properly), but the key here with whatever you do is the speed by which you raise it. Evaporation is just slightly more "fool proof" in most cases.

Just add small amounts of new saltwater to the tank (like an ATO). The extra water will evap, and the salt will stay. No need to do water changes. Take your time, and bring it back up over a week or so.
Do u put saltwater in your ato reservoir that matches your desired salinity or do u just put a couple scoops in

I just pour a few gallons or so of mixed salt water into the sump daily (based on the size of my tank - yours may be different). If you want to put saltwater into your ATO, that would work too, but not necessary.

My wife did a WC for me while I was traveling once and she bragged about how quick she was able to do it... turns out she forgot to add salt to the water. haha

The way I've fixed low salinity in the past is just add a couple scoops of salt to my ATO reservoir (I don't measure or make it a specific gravity) and as the ATO kicks on, it'll slowly bring up the tank's salinity.
Just check your salinity a couple times a day and replace the SW with RODI water in the reservoir when the tank gets back up to your desired level.

Unless it's an emergency like all of your corals will die your best bet is to just unplug your ato and use evaporation you'll be back up to 35 in 48 hrs. or so depending on your evaporation.
