After reading a few posts . Testing sounded like a good idea .

kinda confused ....

Salinity : 1.023 Hannah pen
Cal : 425 saliifert
Alk 8.4 salifert
Ph : 8.2 API
Nitrates : 5ppm
Temp 77° F

If salinity is so low . How are alk , ph and cal within range ?

what salt is it?

you say in range but all the tests have a +/- error margin, and 1.023 is not that far off. Most salts have a range too so all in all I don’t think you can say the salinity is not affecting your parameters as it must be playing a part.

Salinity aqua vitro

I rechecked salinity after calibrating Hannah salinity pen and noticed it was a little off .
Acros , hammers , donut , and gsp are all happy .

Aqua Viro very good salt. Try to arrive at 1.024 as a happy medium

I’ve been using it since it first came available . And only had a few buckets mix dirtier ( leaving residue in the bucket )

I’ve thought about changing as the price keeps going up .
Tropic marin is awesome

As consistent with their parameters ?
a little more pricy I think .
Anyone hear anything good about fritz ?
H2 ocean had a good name a few years ago but haven’t heard much about them
Fritz had major issue with contamination a little over a year ago. Havent heard anything negative most of 2020
I pay $78 shipped for Tropic Marin when on sale thru Petco or Live aquaria ( not sure if LA is still selling it). Petco.com does

In Canada .
a small bucket of aqua vitro is $89
Since covid started I haven’t saw it on sale .

So im going through this right now with the Hanna tester. ive been documenting my unscientific findings in the thread here on the hanna official sponsor forum.

I use ppt, but mine is always showing low anywhere from 2-5ppt. Which can be a pretty big swing. I noticed it because my other levels seemed way too high per the salt mix levels. (tropic marin pro reef). i was over 8dkh and about 500 calcium.
tropc marin says at 35ppt, thier salt to mix to about 7-8dkh, and about 430-450 calcium.

the RED pro has enhanced enhanced calcium, magnesium and potassium

moving forward with low salinity ...
if I mix a bucket of saltwater .
may what salinity could I mix it to add to the 230 gal and raise it slow

Target 1.025, even 1.025 as it will even out to about 1.024
