So I have had my sally about 8 months and he is got pretty big:. About two weeks ago I walked by the tank and noticed him picking on my starfish.. after I stuck a stick in the tank to separate the two.. I have not seen him do it anymore. But Sunday I noticed one of my red leg hermit crabs dead out of the shell in the corner.. I was thinking What in the world could have killed my hermit crab... then yesterday my only cleaner shrimp which I have also had for at least 8 months and was very big as well.. it's remains were floating around the tank.. could my sally light foot have turned into the devil now that he has got so big? If so.. anything I can do to stop this behavior?

Mine was a bully! It would chase off even fish that came to that side of the rock work.
I also had a bunch of hermits/snails that went missing and while I could never prove ... I know it was that crab ... as soon as I trapped and removed it I stopped losing stuff.
Will never have another!

That's crazy.. did yours wait until it got bigger? They have all been together the entire time and now all of a sudden.. he thinks he rules the roost

Banish him to the sump and see what happens!
Good idea! I have two crabs in the sump that someone told me not to have in my tank.. I purchased them as red and blue hermits but apparently they have brown legs with white stripes so they are not good?

Yes! Was about the size of a nickle when I got it ... was soooo cute!!!
Then it got about the size of a silver dollar and that is when things started happening.

Will never have any type of crab in any of my tanks.

Rule of thumb, crabs are bad, sally lightfoots are up there...
Even the ever present mithrax can be bad too.
so much for that whole spooned claw myth.

How big we talkin'?

I really shouldn't be perusing the boards when I'm hungry..

They are opportunistic feeders, they will eat something they are not supposed to eventually ..
Shame though,, they are nice looking crabs..

I had one that took down 5 fish. My sand sifting gobies kept disappearing on me. My wife saw it Catch a clown fish and it was done from there. Had to take all rock work out to get it. GL catching it.
