I was told to use Red Sea Sea Coral Pro Salt because it has the best in it and will minimize me doing any dosing. What's the opinion on this salt is it worth it or should I just go with Red Sea Instant Ocean Reef Crystals.

It's a matter of taste, really...
That said, most people who switch to reef crystals from the normal instant ocean (that I know of) go back to instant ocean, so just go with the IO if you're going to opt for the reef crystals side.

I was looking at a study on toxic heavy metals levels in different salts, and I was noticing that bio-sea marinemix has much more acceptable levels of those while still possessing very good (better than io) cal, mag, and alk numbers. That's just in comparison to instant ocean, though. I don't know much about the red sea salt.

I had a very bad experience with Red Sea Coral Pro. I was using Tropic Marin Pro Reef and decided to switch to save a little money. I made it a gradual switch but I ended up with a horrible Cyano bloom and my corals started looking very unhappy. I've heard of others having the issue with Cyano before. I don't know what Red Sea does to the salt to clean it after it goes through the evaporation process but my guess is that some of the other things that don't evaporate away like phytoplankton and zooplankton get's into the salt which could cause an algae bloom due to excess organic waste. Again that's just in theory since I don't know what they do to the salt. I switched back to Tropic Marin and my corals slowly recovered and my Cyano bloom went away. I've been using the Tropic Marin brand for years when it comes to salt and I highly recommend it. Very consistent mix, dissolves rapidly, alk, and calcium levels are on point. Magnesium is a little low but not that bad.

I am using reef crystals and so far so good. It keeps all my levels perfect. Then again I am doing 10% water changes twice a week

I've found that after testing my weekly water change 12 gal, of reef crystals, I have to add a lot of magnesium to this new water before using. I try to keep mag around 1300.

It all depends on how many calcium eating corals you put in a tank. If you've got alot, then your either going to be doing alot of water changes to keep the levels up or your going to be dosing.
I use Instant Ocean, at some point eveyone doses, no reason to spend a fortune on a higher grade salt.
