Ive seen a lot of your tanks and they all look wonderful.

My question is regarding the salt build up Ive seen on tanks elsewhere. Its usually at the top edge of the tank or
on the lids.

Its usually in various crystal forms and clumps. Is there a way to prevent the salt from building up like that?

The salt buildup you are seeing is from water that has gotten splashed or sprayed out and the dried. As the water evaporates, it leaves the salt behind. This is the salt creep you see. Only way to completely prevent it is to make sure no water gets splashed out (impossible with flow and fish). Otherwise it just becomes part of the matainance routine to clean it up.

This is just me bragging, but my current 60g cube has virtually zero salt creep. I don't know why, but unless my clowns get up in the corner and splash some water out over the side, I have none to deal with. I put a 20g in my office at work, and was immediately overwhelmed with it, but my 60 at home keeps ticking along without. None in the tank, sump, stand, on the lights, anywhere.

So, yes, something can be done, but I wold be hard pressed to tell you what it is.

I just accept it as part of my maintainance. I scrub everything down with hot water and elbow grease with every water change.
