Salt creep. The dirty extra detail.

So I've had my aquirum set up for about 6 to 7 months now and was wondering if anyone had any ideas on how to help with salt creep. I don't wanna just knock the salt back into the aquirum but i do wanna clean it off at some point.

Any ideas on how to make the cleaning process easier.

That's generally what I do. Do you notice that the salt creep occurs in areas where there are bubbles or splashing?

Yes actually to occurs only on the back side of my tank above where my air bubbler is and where my hang on back overflow box is.

The bubbles and the water splashing will cause salt creep faster, I had it really bad in my sump where the water went into the filter socks, after increasing flow and getting rid of the air in the system, my salt creep is virtually gone.

My sump is pretty much clean that doesn't bother me it's just the back top of the tank.

You can either relocate your bubbles, or find some sort of shield that will stop the bubbles from splashing water outside of the tank

I could put lids on my tank but then I worry about gas exchange however my sump doesn't have a lot will that be enough for proper gas exchange.

Do you have any pictures of your setup? If it's an open sump there should be enough to promote gas exchange depended on how much turbulence your sump has.

I hate salt creep! Most of all I hate touching it! LOL! I can pick up a dead fish, clean a skimmer anything but salt creep on my hands I can't stand!

I normally just wipe it up with a wet paper towel or knock it back into the tank. As long as you keep up with it (I clean it off weekly when I do my water changes) it isn't too bad.

All you can do is prevent splashing or air bubbles, but even then you will still get it. The stuff slowly climbs my heater cord up and over my tank. Sometime I accidentally knock a chunk back in the water, but I dont purposely do this. If you look close at salt creep, it is a magnet for dirt, dust, hair etc.
