I just ordered some salt from Chewy.com and I'm curious if anyone else regularly orders their salt from Chewy?

I just did it a week ago. My wife uses chewy for a lot of dog things. I've never used it until now. Will report back if nobody has an experience other mine which was "their fritz blue bucket was cheaper than everyone else"

Nope. But we get all other pet stuff from so I’m intrigued. Do they have all the usual salts?

They seem rotate their Instant Ocean sales with Petco and PetSmart, if that’s the salt you get.

If you order a few buckets you can also stack the sales with a subscribe and save, then cancel the subscription. Repeat for Petco and PetSmart with their sales.

Last couple boxes came from Chewy. I used to get reef crystals from Amazon but they have not had 200g boxes in some time (other than $100 from 3rd party vendors). BRS didn't have either when I needed to order. Actually, with Chewy I just bought IO last time and shockingly it was delivered next day, Saturday, by Fedex.

Yup! I noticed Reef Crystals has a MAP price of around $52 a bucket now. No more cheap salt. :crying-face:

True, but compared to what other online retailers are currently selling it for it is far less expensive in comparison.

I did but stopped when I switched to tropic Marin
Chewy owns Petsmart and you can get from Petsmart who will accept Chewy's pricing

I DIY more products now than I ever have. Mostly due to the esteemed Dr Holmes Farley's proclivity to share and help with information. But also, for $5 I have enough phosphate to dose all of R2R's tanks for the next millennium versus buying from freaking brightwell for a 1000x mark up and a slick bottle.

Didn't a significant number of folks used to DIY salt? I hope it doesn't ever get to that point lol. I'm way too lazy for that.

Oh, absolutely! Some people pay $100 for a bucket. I go through a bucket a month, so I look for it as low as possible. Luckily, I still have a lfs that can get it for the old price too.

I am imagining how that being on a salt subscription could force someone to keep up their water changes!

Yes I can't say I'll do it next week because I ran out of salt

Also, when buckets of salt start stacking up in your garage there is extra motivation!
