Salt level

Hi guys
Is it ok to add fishes if the salt level is 1.022??
That level is fine as long as you acclimate the fish to it. I keep my QT tanks at 1.019 as most vendors who sell fish do the same. All I need to do is temp acclimate them and drop them in the tank. If the salinity is different then you need to drip acclimate them. If the salinity is lower in the DT than what the fish were originally kept in, then it is easier on the fish. You still need to acclimate them though, it is just easier on them.

Is your goal to keep the salinity at that level or are you hoping to bring it up?

Fishes are ok. Corals are not. Fish only tanks can have lower salinity.
thank you

Corals like softies and lps are not happy. No corals are happy. My ato messed up and brought me to 1.022. My entire frag tank closed up in a day. I immediately got it back to 1.025 and it took a day before everything opened up again. Not dangerous but I also didn’t have it that low for more than 7-8 hours (my work shift) I don’t know when during that time it happened or even over night.

Yes corals are not happy when that happens. I hope everything is ok. Prob was an acute alk swing from 1.022to 1.025. Alk swing down and then alk swing up. I usually leave it were it’s at and take a few days to raise it back up. I have grown corals at 1.022 thinking it was 1.023. The standard salinity tester can be off by that much if not calibrated.
