Currently have roughly 24g of water mixed to 30ppt. How much salt is needed to reach the desired 35 if every 1/2c is equal to 1gal?

492.14 mls

Assuming the 30ppt correlates to ~1.021 spg (temperature changes the correlation, so using room temp ~72°F) you would need roughly 1lb of salt mix, but that also varies based on what brand of salt you are using.

With all that in mind I'd start with 1.5 cups and you should get close to 35ppt.

Every 1/2 cup per gallon yes and therefore mix to 38ppt and slowly add in increments to sump or back chamber- not directly to tank
Check as you go along to verify your salinity rise

There is "math" for that but tbh a floating hygrometer is your best bet with an optical one to confirm new mix is appropriate when compared to your current tank level. Remember, while specific salinity levels for your tank specimens is important, consistency is even MORE important. If you have gone high on salinity (i.e. 1.028) and you suddenly drop it to 1.025 you can expect some negative reactions in the tank.

This is for water I'm using for a change so directly adding to the tank isn't needed. Just know the experts on here could save me some time in getting my desired result. Thank you everyone for the replies.

30 / 35 = about 86%.

So add about 14% more than you added before.

So if you added 24 half cups (12 cups) before, add another 3 or 4 half cups.
