I’m starting on my 32 LEG BioCube and am looking into salt mixes I’ve only ever Used Red Sea Coral Pro and might stick with it.. I will have LPS and Softies. What do you use or recommend? I’ve also thought about Brightwell, Red Sea Blue, Coralife, Oceanic, Or Reef Christals. I’d love to know what you use and your thoughts on the salts. I don’t plan on dosing the tank if I do I might use Tropic Marin All for Reef. [emoji848]‍♂️

I’ve only ever used Red Sea coral pro as well. I don’t dose. My calcium is always around 470 which is fine as I mostly only have LPS and softies. Only a few SPS frags. My alk is always 10. I keep it at 1.026. So I’m happy with this salt. I don’t test for Mg however so not sure about that.

Brother asking what's the best salt mix is like asking everyone what's the best Fast Foid restaurant is..... waaaaay to many differing opinions.

Every mix has their proprietary take on Calc, Alk and Mag content

So true. But ask for an opinion and you’ll get one  Usually when I ask for an opinion on here, I already know the answer. I just want to hear someone else agree with what I’m thinking. “Is pizza the best food in the world?” -No. -No -No -Yes. Guy that said yes is right :D

I heard overwhelming praise for the Marin Pro, or something Marin.... either way, I ordered 200g worth of it.... so we will see.....

I use Fritz RPM only bc I sat thru an hour presentation on their salt versus others

Biggest selling point for me is they mixx in small batches. Every 20th box randomly gets pulled and ran thru rigorous QA testing . If that box does pass inspection....the other 19 DON'T get pallated and shipoed

True I’m not looking for the best just want to know what you guy/girls use in a softie/LPS tank. And why you like them.

I have used several different salts over the years, and they all work. As others have said, pick one that mixes to the conditions you want and go for it. I have used Red Sea blue bucket as it mixes to what I want and the corals have loved it, now going on 5 years.

Happy Reefing!

If you go to bulk reef supply and look at salt mixes, they give you the calcium, magnesium and alkalinity if the mix. In the reviews section, you will get notes on some aspects of a mix like mixing clean. The pro mixes tend to have more calcium and magnesium. Bulk reef supply also has a few videos on salt mixes. One on how economical they are. Another on how they change over time. And a third on how fast they mix.

Mixes all have their fans. Just about any of the popular mixes has been used in fantastic looking reefs. It is the reefer not the mix.

I started with pro, because when I was first setting everything up I still didn't fully understand Alk. I thought just within the 7-12dkh range was OK but once I learned that that's absolutely not the case I switched to blue bucket because pros dkh is way to high.
