I opened a brand-new bucket of instant Ocean salt mix today. I mixed up about 15 gallons and it is staying extremely cloudy after about five hours of heat and aeration. I'm going to let it continue to mix overnight but I am suspicious that something is wrong. The bucket was properly sealed but the salt was not bagged; although I don't see how moisture could've gotten in. I added salt to the water, not the other way around. Has anyone else dealt with this? Is it safe to add to the tank if it stays this cloudy? See pic below. Thanks!

What's the water temp? Cold water takes way longer to clear.

I've mixed water that was straight cooooolllllllddddd out of the filter and it still mixes to not be cloudy within minutes, I doubt the temp was the issue. Something definitely isn't right... how much salt did you use.... althought even if you dumped the whole bucket I don't think it would/should stay that cloudy after 5hrs with some good mixing power!

Yeah if that's what it looks like at 5 hours them something is wrong for sure.

I think I got a bad batch of salt. It's been 12 hrs and no change. I bought it from bulk reef supply so I'm hoping they can help.

I would not use that. What is the story on the bucket? Have you used it before without this issue?

This is a great thought. I actually tried to mix some other salt that got wet when my toddler dumped water into it a couple weeks ago. I mixed that Salt to see if it would be any good and it looked like this. I did use this bucket but I rinsed it after, but there was some residue. I wonder if that could be the problem. Seems unlikely but everyone says that instant Ocean is consistently good. I will try to mix more in a new container

But just to clarify - this is the first time using this brand new instant Ocean salt mix, the blue bucket in the picture is what I used to mix some salt that got wet. It looked just like this and obviously I did not use it. Thanks again for everyone's suggestions and would appreciate any other opinions/experiences with bad mixes.
