I know this subject can be a hot bed on the "best" salt mix topic. I'm just looking for consistency, I attended a local reefing event earlier this year a got a great deal on 3 boxes of Fritz RPM the first box was spot on Ca,Mg and Alk. The second box, I had to add an additional 3cups of salt to get the salinity to 1.026 (ok not horrible but..) I just opened the 3rd box and Ca is good, Alk is a little high at 10.5 and Mg is pretty high at 1800. I mix 20gal at a time, mix, heat and aerate for 24hr. I'm ready to change and not looking to start any battles just wondering what folks are using and if it's been consistent for them. Some brands I have looked at are obviously Red Sea (both the CP and blue bucket) Tropic Marin Bio Actif, HW Marinemix.

You'll get alot of back and fourth. It all depends on each individual. I myself use Instant Ocean Reef Crystals and have never had an issue. Another good option would be Red Sea Coral Pro. Never used it but I have heard good things. As far as Fritz, there's a user in here who used it exclusively for his frag tanks but ran into an issue similar to yours so he switched back to IO Reef Crystals.
