So I'm not far off mixing my first tank - Looking at have specific gravity of 1.025.

I know how much I need to put into my 140L system. My question is:

If my gravity is 1.031 how do I calculate how to dilute it?

Of if evapoeration occurs and it's 1.027 how do I calculate how much RO water to add in?

Finally if it's 1.021 how much more salt mix to add in?

Buy a refractometer

There are hard #s to follow but 90% of us get close to 1.023~1.025 and add water or salt in small random amts until it's on what we want.

More an art than a science in moving SG in 0.001 amts.

You'll get the hang of it

Thanks for the reply. I got that much and have a refractometer.

I mean if I'm 0.003 off my desired level. how much water will see it right etc

A) 0.003 isn't a huge move in SG.
B) trial and error should work. You'll find that in a 140L system adding a little fresh water won't move the SG by all that much. And if you want to go up in SG adding 1.030 SG saltwater will have VERY little impact on total SG unless you do a big water change with it.

Just make the moves small until you get a feel for it.

When you are +/- 0.003 SG..... I think you are looking for a hard scientific formula.

Most of us just add water or salt in small amts to move SG slowly
