I am wondering why many people run a pump periodically to circulate the salt mix once the salt is thoroughly dissolved. Any ideas?

Second question: If a closed loop is set up with canister filter and pump, would that prevent the brown precipitate from forming in the salt mix tank?

1) I mix my water 1 day before a change. The day of the change I mix the water for about 1 hour. 3 reasons; To add oxygen, To add heat, To be sure nothing settles out.

2) It would depend on how fine your canister filter is . A micron 0.5 might work.

Lapin, thanks for response, but not quite what I need. Because I use AWC, my mixed salt water is made up for about 10 days at a time. I use Tropic Marin Pro salt mix and am happy that it dissolves faster and has less precipitation that any others I have tried.

I use an external danner 12 on my 65g mix barrel. Aquadome has them. I chose that because I used 1" pipe and dind not want to mess with reducers. You can prob go with a smaller gph pump.
