Okay do here is my plan...

I have 2 55g food grade plastic closed top barrels.

I would like to hook my RODI unit to flow into the one barrel and then have it plumbed together at the bottom of the barrels and was hoping the 2nd barrel would be filled as well. Put the float valve in Second Barrel (salt mixing barrel)

Each barrel would be fitted with 1inch bulkhead and ball valve....then in the middle of the line would be a T pipe connecting to am external pump I can then use to fill either the ATO with fresh or bucket free water fill after change.

Here is a very rough drawing about what I am thinking please let me know if you guys recommend a better way of doing this as I cannon stack them.

Unless you plan to completely empty the salt water container each time before you refill it you'll have an issue with the approach to filling both together. When you open the valve between the tanks you'll contaminate your fresh water with salt. Some have tried this using a check valve between them, but they aren't reliable IMO and your pump setup wouldn't work then.

You could have a couple valves on the output of the pump though. Have one go up to your salt water bin and one go out to your tank. Then you can select what type of water gets pumped (fresh or salt) and where it goes (fresh to salt for filling, fresh to tank for top offs, salt to tank for water changes or salt to salt for mixing).
