Hello, I’m thinking of starting a fish tank and I’m confused on what salt mix I should use. I am going to start with fish only with some live rock. What salt do you guys recommend? I have a 32.5 gallon tank and I want a salt mix that mixes quick and can be for reef and FOWLR (I plan to do a reef tank when I have the whole saltwater thing down). Any suggestions??

Here are a couple of videos you can look at and see what fits your needs

I agree with @YankeeTankee There are a ton of options. It will honestly come down to how much you want to spend. If money is not an issue then i would say the Tropic Marin Pro is the way to go.

Ok, how fast does it dissolve? I am leaning towards speed. I’ll spend some cash if it means it takes less time to make saltwater.

IO classic is fine, if you've got money to burn the TM classic.

When you start getting serious about corals you can slowly switch to reef crystals or pro reef.

Go slow, enjoy.
How fast does it dissolve? I’m mainly looking for a fast dissolving salt.

I'm curious why the speed at which the salt dissolves is a major factor for you? I may be in the minority, but I never use new saltwater immediately after mixing it. Is that why you are asking?..So you can make it and use it in the fastest time possible?

No judgement...I'm really curious since I let my salt/water mix overnight ( I use Coralife) unless it's an emergency.

I don't think this subject has ever been brought up before

All of the major brands are going to be fine for you. When/if you decide to go reef, you are going to want a salt that matches the parameters you want to maintain. Since you don't know that yet, you may or may not want to switch as you learn and grow.

My personal recommendation for a FOWLR tank and a brand new keeper is to make your life easy and go grab a bag of Instant Ocean. It's time tested, inexpensive and available at every chain pet store in the US
