I use coral life salt and have noticed white scum floating in my mixing can. Is this bad? I have had alot of problems with my chalices recedding. Just trying to figure it out. Could this be the reason? Do I need to buy a better salt?

Yes i use a pump and mix for 48 hours.Nothing wrong with Coralife salt mix. Are you using a pump in your mix container to keep things moving? Are you letting the salt mix for 24 hrs before you use it? I frequently see solids floating right after adding the salt and they go away after the temperature comes up and the pumps keep things moving overnight.
I use coralife for all my tanks, and usually let it mix somewhere between 5 minutes and 5 days. Use a very big pump to mix it up in a 20 gallon tote, never have the white stuff. The solids form if you slow mix it, and it's just solids that are able to float up to the surface. Have seen it when I used to mix with smaller pumps.
I wouldn't use it until the salt's fully disolved, so in your case, keep mixing/agitating it until you get rid of that "foam" buildup.
Thanks the pump is small so that might be the issue
