I’ve been struggling with my tanks recently due to Instant Oceans reef crystals. Got myself a 50 gallon bag, and the first half made water that was reading nearly 1000 calcium and now the second batch of alt water is reading over 16 dKH.

What are y’all a favorites? For the frugal soul please

I switched to regular instant ocean salt for that reason. It's a fine salt and has worked for many, including the Georgia aquarium, for years. I don't see the reason to buy a $100 pale of salt when you can grab this one for $35 for 200 gallon box. I'd say try to switch over to IO and see how that goes.

Edit: your goal should just be to find the salt that mixes to your desired levels. IO is probably going to do that at a fraction of the price of other over-marketed brands.

Glad to hear I’m not the only one with this problem. Did switching from reef crystals to the regular IO inhibit your coral growth in any way?
