I'm in a new build. I'm putting the stand and tank in the basement where I spend all my time outside of work. Should I put something under the stand to preserve the concrete from the salt? If so what's recommended! Plywood? A mat? Etc.?

Something to make clean up easy. Tile, stick tile, linoleum, epoxy etc..

Yes definitely. Any barrier would work really. Rhino lining seals concrete well. Paint, stick on linoleum squares are all good options. I would stay away from something like a rigid piece of plywood.

im leaning toward yoga mats. as far as plywood if I do have to use it. is if I can't get it leveled with the shims. I only like to go no more than 3 high with shims.

If you are still building, why not plan now for the eventual leveling needs without shims?

Install some HD levelers under the stand. No shims of any kind.
