Looking to set up my mixing station and am wanting to pick your brains for pump ideas. Iny mixing station will be in my basement and need to pump water vertical about 8’ and then have a horizontal run of about 20’.
What your your opinions on an efficient pump for the task?

Ah cool...head loss question. :)

8 ft height, plus friction loss so lets assume 1" pipe and you can add another 4-5 ft head due to friction in straight pipe. Throw and elbow or two in there and you can go with pump designed for 20+ ft of head pressure. Sound right to anyone with basement stations?

For sure you can look up head loss in various types pipes and connectors, then it's just a math problem adding it all up - adding a bit of extra and then making sure the pump you get is greater than that.

Or Pan World - cheaper but noisier I've heard although same basic construction - I think same designer wasn't it? Just manufactured in Mexico?

Noise probably matters less in the basement or heck, maybe you want to hear it running just for that reassuring hum. :) Definitely go with AC external pump. They almost literally last forever.

Iwaki RXT. A work horse and pretty quiet at the same time. Mine goes up 7 ft and across another 10 ft and then down to my sump across the room. Plenty of pressure .

Panworld and Blueline are also good quality pumps. My 14 year old Iwaki MD-30RXT (that was once a relatively loud return pump) has been my mixing station/supply pump for the last 2 years and still going strong. I upgraded the hose to 3/4" and now refilling tanks is quick and easy.

Another vote for doing your head loss calculation first, then matching the pump to it. I use both Iwaki and Panworld pumps, and they are both great when properly sized for the application.
