SALT- What have you tried? What do you use?

8.5 and on the Triton method.
I assume you dose your system not a reactor. Can I ask do you also dose your fresh saltwater mix before water change to then get new mix to 8.5 first? Or just do water change and dose system to get it back where you want? I’m not to familiar with Triton method but I will be reading up on it. What I thought I knew about triton method is you don’t do water changes at all or at least very few so little lost there.

Yes the Triton method says no water changes.
But my personal common sense meter never believed that.

I have done 3 ICP Tests and all of them have recommended water changes of 15% a week for 6 weeks. A bit contradictory to the advertising.

No I do not dose my new saltwater mix.
I do small daily water changes automatically about 2 gallons a day.
My systems water volume is 240g overall with sump.

So far my parameters have been stable.
But this is a new setup headding into its fourth month and I do not have a lot of livestock yet.

Correct I do not use a reactor. I dose with Core 7

I have used IO. it was fine but didnt like the high alk and low calcium. Tried reef crystals and worked fine but also on that I didnt like the brown settlement you got in mixing bucket. Tried Red sea coral pro and didnt need the high alk/ca at the time. Getting to the end of my bucket of Liveaquaria pro salt. it worked just fine and had good parameters. Was at the store today and bought a new 175g bucket of red sea blue bucket to go back to using that. It had good mid range parameters like the liveaquaria but I didnt have to order it.

Started with IO, and now use IO Reef Crystals so I don't have to dose as much. Haven't branched it from there, but seeing all the Red Sea comments makes me think I should give it a shot

I am currently using IO, but am already planning head for when I start getting corals. I'm thinking about trying out Red Sea Pro when I start getting corals.
