Oh so people only use the power head so the salt mixes ?I fill the desired amount of RoDi into a brute can. Then add a powerhead and heater. Then add my salt and let it mix overnight.

Yup. No way I would do it by hand, takes too long. Depending on the salt sometimes hours of mixing is recommended. I just do mine over night and change the next day to make it easy.Oh so people only use the power head so the salt mixes ?
I just picked up the cheapest powerhead my LFS had. Made it easy and I have a back up for just incase one in my tank goes down. The heater I have is the same as I use in my tank for the same reason.I don’t have an extra pumpI wanted to do it by hand lol
Ok the dude at lfs said it could be ready within an hour after mixing to let it sit was he wrongYou can do it by hand. Give it a good mix when you first mix it then stir it up every now and then over a day or 2. You can actually smell it when it’s fully mixed strangely enough
Okeydoke. Just do what you think is best.Ok the dude at lfs said it could be ready within an hour after mixing to let it sit was he wrong
It’s just mixing salt for Pete sake.I’m just trying to make sure I don’t harm the fish by not mixing right or not doing a process right if there is oneOkeydoke. Just do what you think is best. It’s just mixing salt for Pete sake.
Understood. Nobody wants anything harmed.I’m just trying to make sure I don’t harm the fish by not mixing right or not doing a process right if there is one
Probably best advice right here! Keep using what you've been using, only make it at home. So if LFS using original IO, just buy that and mix at home. What ever they use keep using. You can change later if you feel the need. How long has your tank been running, and if you're happy with the water mix you've been getting from the LFS I would stick to the salt they use.
Yea i picked the salt already was just wondering now if the amount of time the salt is sitting after being mixed mattered someone said a day while the lfs said an hour should be sufficientProbably best advice right here! If you have the time, 24 hours or more is good. In an emergency, you can use it in an hour or less.Yea i picked the salt already was just wondering now if the amount of time the salt is sitting after being mixed mattered someone said a day while the lfs said an hour should be sufficient
I use a slotted plastic spoon. There are many methods but idea is to mix it well. All should be dissolved.Oh so people only use the power head so the salt mixes ?
As careful as youre thinking, you will be ok especially with just fish. If youre doing regular water changes, you are likely maintaining safe levels. Dosing manually adjusts while auto dosing maintains levels calculated in Units or ml.I’m just trying to make sure I don’t harm the fish by not mixing right or not doing a process right if there is one
