Saltgator's 240 Build

Hey Brad, glad things are coming together for you. Try not to design your rocks around stuff that's on them, you'll never be completely happy. Don't hesitate to remove stuff, bust up some rocks and relocate. Happy stacking!

Thanks Brett. Question, how do you remove a yuma or ric from a rock? Other than my bonsai, softies are the only attached coral so shouldn't be too hard to twist and turn some rock I suppose

You just gotta choose your battles and occasionally break some rocks. I know, easier said than done :)

Yep! Might be using zip ties to form a island but we'll see what my rocks do. Look for another aquascape update, possibly tomorrow

Brad....this is how I did my rock....I wanted to be able to see thru to the back...wanted some caves as well....I used Marco rocks and cemented them together....I'd post some more pics but don't wanna hijack your thread!

So nice Conan. I appreciate it. No worries on hijacking my thread

Hey Brad,

Cyano is not fun to deal with but it is manageable so don't give up. You started dosing Vinegar not too long ago and that is changing the bacteria count in your system. I believe, don't quote me, but my past experience is that cyano comes in when the bacteria count get out of whack. Once your system gets back in "check" I bet it will go away. For instance, when my fuge light burnt out and the chaeto quit growing, I noticed more brown algae on the glass of my DT. Once I got a new bulb over the fuge, about a week later cyano started to show up. I aggressively sucked out the cyano for a week or so and after that the balance came back and now it's gone. I didn't have a ton of it, but it did show up in low flow areas and actually started to grow over the top of the chaeto as well and probably would have choked it out but I didn't allow it to by pruning the chaeto pieces with it on it.

Hope this helps. Other than that, I like the 2 islands idea as well but you just changed your scape. Post up some more photos of the structure and maybe we can chime in more. Maybe a side shot through the tank??

Thanks bud. I might try another scape tonight, if not at least get y'all some pics without the ladder (for you Todd). Lol
I've seen a slight reduction in the cyano in the last few days. It doesn't cover the sand fast anymore and is lightning up in its color. We'll see.

Tried some scaping. No I didn't scrape the old coraline off for pics, lol, my bad.
