All levels were reading zero and Ph reading 8.3 give or take, i brought a water sample to LFS when i was ready purchase some coral. The man there advised me he was reading some amonia levels and used the same type of test kit, anyone know why this may have happened? Do i need to leave water in test tubes for a longer amount of time before starting the tests? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Also my test kit has a light blue color for zero ammonia and i told the man that and he the freshwater kit has light blue not the saltwater kit? My kit from API says its saltwater

Make sure you are using the correct reagent in my API Saltwater test kit the Nitrate test gives a blue color and the Ammonia gives yellow. If you would like you can post pics of your reagents/kit and I will compare them to mine.

Through past experiences I have found that the API test kits are not very accurate for use in saltwater(API saltwater master test kit) and when compared to other test kits. Here at vivid we like to use the Salifert test kits, we have found them to be very accurate and easy to use.
