Saltwater Aquarium Forum - what makes us different?

I appreciate all of our members and each and every one of you bring something different to the community here. That being said for a Saltwater Aquarium Forum - what makes us different?

Not looking for pats on the back honestly, just looking for some reasons that keeps you coming back so we can do even better!

Honestly, I am a member of other forums but I like this one the best. Tons of mutual respect. Also, the way we all speak to each other is also very kind.

But most of all, I feel like this is the college or higher level of reefing. I can see all the cycling questions but here we see info about co2 scrubbers, lasers for pest control, the best water quality and sps guys on the market.

The high sponsor activity, IMO, makes this forum stand apart from others. The knowledge is great as well, but having such active sponsors draws in crowds. Once they're in, the friendly atmosphere keeps them here... and the giveaways probably help out too

R2R is far and away the most respectful, organized, informed, mature, and fun online reefing community. I'd list more adjectives, but you get the idea. The mods are very good at keeping threads on topic and shutting down shameless self promotion, trolling, and flame wars without acting like an overly-entitled gestapo. Also, this forum actually encourages aquaculture and trading/selling to fellow hobbyists. I was quickly banned from a competitor forum because my shipping methods were "too professional" and on par with that of a vendor! I had sold less than $250 worth of corals and traded with a handful of members. I was told that my ban could be lifted for the low price of $500/mo vendor fee. That kind of unethical extortion would NEVER happen on this forum. R2R is the gold standard.

I have been lurking:angel: on this forum for about a year and the one thing that makes this club stands out is the lack of drama. Also, the awesome members that give good advice and opinions. I feel like there is no stupid question you can ask here. I just want to say thank you to all that have helped me and answering all my inquiries:nerd:

When I get on line I go to my local forum first to find out what is going on close by but then come to R2R. Other forums have helpful people with good information but they also have the jerks and flame wars that are not found here. The atmosphere here is consistently friendly and when ill mannered people come to cause trouble they don't hang around because their need for argument is not fed by the people here or allowed by the mods. The mods do an excellent job keeping the site on it's mission but I believe the people that come here are the real controllers. We want a kind place to exchange reef and other information with friends that are interested in the same things. We get it because when obnoxious people come here they are ignored or put in their place by everyone, not just by power hungry mods who ban them because they don't agree with their philosophy of reefkeeping. Bottom line is that good people come here and return, bad people don't find what they they are seeking so they don't come back.

Obviously Rev is a Christian and runs this site in the manner that follows his faith. Those good values are shared by people of many faiths and others who profess no faith in God yet still live their lives respecting the values that the rest of us hold dear. There is no proselytization saying that if you are not exactly the same type of Christian that I am then you are wrong and must convert to my way of thinking. The only requirement is that you behave in a manner here that is kind to others and that is what draws people and brings them back for more.

I think the posts above pretty much covered it. Everyone here has a good attitude and doesn't use this forum for trolling entertainment. This forum also has the best eye candy by far. So many top notch corals and fish to look at.

I like the fact that the mods treat us with respect and not as some dumb idiot and talk down to us. I ran into that issue on "that other site" when dealing with some issues.

im guilty of trolling entertainment lol but the good kind the sponsors seem to be very paient and helpful the pics are great and people here like to help each other and this site seems to be easier to move around in im in a couple of others but havent had a neg response here like the others. even though i feel like im in a stump changing everything over and learning the new info from 6 yrs ago and, not all that pc savy, with forum and pics I always find my way back here for help so i just like to thank you all

I have to agree with all previous posts and I know it's been repeated several times, but the lack of drama is wonderful. This is a very well managed site.
