A couple questions before we get ou going on your fish list (stocking plan in reefer terms!)

Has your tank been cycled yet?

Can you provide an equipment list?

Do you have test kits, and if so, which brand and which test?

Can you provide a FTS (Full Tank Shot). A pic that shows the whole tank and stand.

There are some good questions above. Among mine: Is the tank a standard 20 gallon or 20 Long? The 20 Long does offer more useable space IMHO and can open up some options for fish. Regardless I would say 4-5 total on the limit of fish for that size tank. These are just general options:

For a standard 20 gallon the following would be good beginner fish:

1 or 2 Occ or Percula Clownfish (Occ being a "Nemo")
Pajama Cardinalfish
Firefish/Purple Firefish
Pinkstreaked or Possum Wrasse
Small Gobies or Blennies

For a 20 Long the aforementioned list, plus:

Royal Gramma Basslet
Orchid Dottyback (not to be confused with the Purple or any other dottyback)
Forktail or Harptail Blenny
Banggai Cardinalfish

I do recommend some time taking a look at this site for minimum tank size, level of care, reef compatibility, etc.
