Hi everyone. I started my tank about 2 and a half weeks ago with 7 pounds of live rock, 15 pounds of dry rock, and 20 pounds of live sand. I also added chemi-pure and macro algae in my sump for filtration. For my nitrifying bacteria I used bio spira. My friend who got me back into the saltwater hobby had cracked his aquarium and sold most of his fish and corals, but since no one wanted his ocellaris, I am stuck with them. There is no saltwater store or hobbiest for hours from what I know from so much searching. The fish have been in my tank for about a week and a half and are doing great. I am having a diatom bloom and some hair algae is popping up. But here is the weird part, i haven't had a spike in ammonia or nitrites, only my nitrates have risen to about 2.5-5 ppm. When should I expect my tank to cycle if it already hasn't, and should i be worried about the fish since there is no ammonia and nitrites to make them stressed? Thanks for all the answers and sorry for any mistakes, this is my first post on here lol.

By using the live rock and the bio spira you may not see an ammonia spike. I didn't. Reason being is the bacteria is consuming what little there may be. However this doesn't mean add more fish-lol.
Feel free to add a clean up crew (CUC) to help with algae issue. Start small. Let tank mature as is for at least 4-6 weeks before adding any other fish to your bio-load. Keep feedings light, monitor parameters often.
