Hi everyone!

So about a year ago I got a tank with 2 clownfish that within a couple of weeks got some white spot thing and died along with my corals, Crabs, Snails pretty much everything.

Long story short I wanted to know if it would be possible to convert my saltwater tank into a freshwater one, since i've heard it is a bit easier to keep?

Any help is appriciated

Thanks

Bisky :)

Welcome to reef2reef
What’s in the tank as of now ?

Yes, you can. Are you sure that's what you want to do? There are plenty of folks here who would help you start over with saltwater.

Thanks for your swift replys guys :)
James: Pretty much water and rock lol
Seawitch: Yes please, I have tried other fish aswell They were purple and yellow and they had the exact same thing, I think I was dumped into the deep end (heh heh) when it comes to fish I've just heard fresh is easier to keep for a novice like me

What tank size do you have? That would help me help you out greatly!

It's a 80L :)
80 liters I assume? That’s a 20 gallon is it tall or long? My experience is that cichlids (what I mostly did when I enjoyed freshwater) are fairly bulletproof as long as you let the tank cycle and don’t deprive them of oxygen (has exchange is plenty as long as you don’t put glass tops and fill the water to where it touches...lol don’t ask). If it’s an 80 liter like I mentioned you could get away with a group of say 1 male and up to 3 female mbuna cichlids. You could also re-use most of the saltwater decorations and equipment as I did on the 125G cichlid tank I have. Is there anything in particular you like freshwater wise?

Okay @Bisky tell us what kind of equipment you already have besides the tank. Filter?

Are you using tap water or RO/DI water? And if it's tap water, is your water hard or soft?

I definitely enjoyed cichlids but enjoy the endless variety of creatures and learning experiences in saltwater aquariums. Also I would mention that I trippled the amount of rock sometime after those pictures were taken.
